Who are we?
Nestled in the heart of Truro, our Forest School sits within a small woodland where children are free to explore in their natural world. Led by our Forest School Teachers, our qualified and experienced team provide outdoor learning in a safe and natural environment.
Who will be there to meet me?

Abi
Abi is Truro Forest School’s Apprentice and is currently studying for her level 3 apprenticeship in childcare. Abi is an outdoor enthusiast with a keen eye for creativity and cooking. She has some fantastic recipes for cooking over the fire with the children and loves getting arty and messy with them, creating beautiful and functional works of art!
Jan
Jan started her Forest School training in 2010 which changed her whole perspective of how children learn and develop. She finds children of all abilities, thrive in the outdoor world and especially in forest school. Children can build confidence to manage their own risks and skills. With these skills children can avoid danger or harm to themselves. Simply knowing how to stroke a nettle so as not to get stung or not touching or eating fungi. In forest school children learn through, as much as possible, child led and child-initiated play. Jan also gained qualifications in outdoor learning and learning outside the classroom and has worked in a pre-school setting with a forest school where she eventually became the manager.
What does our day look like?
When children join us in the morning, they can hang their belongings in ‘The Cabin’ and get themselves suited up for a day of fun and adventures with the Forest School team.
We start with some free play around the woodland where you can make new friends and catch up with others, join in games and open activities or just adjust to the natural way of life.
We gather around the fire for a snack, a story, and a catch up and then go back out into the woods to join in with some pre planned, adult led activities such as campfire cooking, woodwork, woodland rangership, arts, creative media and much more.
Hot lunch is provided daily, and the children gather to promote community and personal care skills. After lunch, the children are encouraged to help with day-to-day tasks such as washing their dishes and collecting wood for the fire.
In the afternoon, the children carry on with their natural creativity and outdoor learning, following the EYFS. Our Cabin is a cosy and warm room where we can keep our belongings, shelter in extreme weathers, have a little sleep or just have a break when we need it!
The team at Truro Forest School provide the very best care and outdoor learning for your child and we look forward to welcoming you into our natural environment!
